P.E.T.S. Emergency Transport Service

P.E.T.S. specializes in transporting a pet in an emergency and non-emergency situation to a local veterinary hospital, specialty, or critical care facility of your choice. P.E.T.S. patients are transported in a fully-equipped ambulance with an experienced and caring professional staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Ease of entry for you and your pet
P.E.T.S. strives to streamline patient admittance by arranging pre approval and admission processes through our hospital partners. A payment will be taken as well as a deposit for the accepting hospital at the time of pickup. You can fill out admittance forms online before our transfer technician arrives. This makes things quick and easy for you so your pet can be efficiently transferred.

During transport
Our P.E.T.S. ambulance is equipped with cages, stretchers and oxygen and a multi parameter monitor. We have three levels of care for the different types of emergencies:

Transport Only – for less critical cases and non emergency transfers
Veterinary Technician Assisted – pets who need more advance care including IV care, treatments and/or oxygen
Veterinary Doctor Assisted – critical pet or pet who needs CPR
See our page on Types of Transfers for other needs
To help us help you
P.E.T.S. will pick up your pet at your home or veterinary hospital. Cats and other exotic animals are requested to be in carriers and dogs are requested to be on leashes.

You can call us directly after you speak to your veterinarian and if your pet requires immediate veterinary care we will transport your pet directly to your veterinarian or an emergency hospital. We are located in Mt. Laurel, NJ which is 20 minutes from Philadelphia and centrally located in South Jersey. See our map for the coverage area.

There are many excellent emergency and critical care veterinary hospitals in the area but there are few if any ambulances to transport your pet. Please consider P.E.T.S. for your pet transportation needs.

P.A.W.S (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society)

PAWS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving Philadelphia’s homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals. PAWS is the city’s largest no-kill shelter and operates two high-volume, low-cost clinics serving pet owners and rescue organizations that lack access to affordable basic veterinary care. Through its adoption locations, special events, and foster care network, PAWS finds loving homes for thousands of animals each year. PAWS is working to make Philadelphia a place where every healthy and treatable pet is guaranteed a home.

Every year in Philadelphia, nearly 30,000 homeless, abandoned, and unwanted dogs and cats enter the city’s animal control shelter. Nearly three in ten of them – 8,000 pets – never make it back out alive. PAWS is committed to reducing that number, and to leading Philadelphia toward becoming a no-kill city. We do so through comprehensive rescue and prevention efforts: pulling at-risk animals out of the city’s shelter and placing them in loving adoptive and foster homes, and providing low- or no-cost veterinary services and spay/neuter surgery to disadvantaged pet owners, enabling pets to remain as cherished family members rather than face abandonment and preventing the birth of unwanted litters.

Our efforts are based out of our boutique-style Adoption Center in the Old City section of Philadelphia, which showcases adoptable animals in an inviting setting, our Spay/Neuter and Wellness Clinic in the Grays Ferry section, and our Northeast Adoption Center and Low-Cost Clinic, which brings our services to a community that previously lacked them.

PAWS’ efforts are entirely privately funded. The generosity of individual, corporate, media, and foundation supporters is maximized by a highly qualified staff, an enormous and active volunteer base, an engaged Board of Directors, frequent media appearances, and widespread community backing. Support for PAWS funds lifesaving initiatives which help reduce and will ultimately eliminate the unnecessary killing of Philadelphia’s healthy and treatable pets. Donations to PAWS are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
